Cox's Bazar gets
its name after Captain Cox, an administrator, sent by the British Government in the year 1798, to settle Buddhist Immigrants from Burma into the area. The scenic beauty of Chittagong hill tracts captivated Shah Shuja, son of the Mughal Emperor Shahjahan, who camped here for a few days with his family and noblemen, while on his way to Burma to seek asylum from the Arakan Kings. The place Dula
Hazara, near Cox's Bazar is a reminiscence of the thousand palanquins of prince Shah Shuja that camped there.
